PUBLIC ACCESS TO NUNAVUT'S LEGISLATION
(Announced Nov.2005)

Legislation Division is pleased to announce the launch of the new Department of Justice and Legislation Division websites. The Legislation Division website includes:

  • all Acts made in Nunavut, in English, French and Inuktitut
  • the Nunavut Gazette, in English and French
  • numerous reference tables to assist users in finding relevant material
  • consolidations of Acts and regulations, current to April 1, 1999, which include the legislation duplicated for Nunavut on division and the Flag of Nunavut Act
  • more current consolidations prepared by Legislation Division since April 1, 1999, in English, French and Inuktitut

All general information on the new Website is in Innuinaqtun, Inuktitut, French and English. Other material, such as Acts and regulations, is included on the Website to the extent that material is available in the particular language. For instance, all Acts made in Nunavut since April 1, 1999 are in Inuktitut as well as English and French.

In the future, Legislation Division plans to add more reference tables and up to date consolidations, and is also looking for a more effective search engine.

The Department of Justice is pleased to be able to provide this information to the public without charge. Legislation Division will continually add new material to the Website in an effort towards providing more public access to the laws of Nunavut.
