How to Cite Nunavut Legislation

The following method of citing Nunavut legislation has been agreed upon locally.  For the sake of consistency it is our recommendation that you follow it.

For NWT Statutes that were duplicated for Nunavut on April 1, 1999 according to s. 29 of the Nunavut Act, S.C. 1993, c. 28.

Official Languages Act, R.S.N.W.T. 1988, c. O-1, as duplicated for Nunavut by s.29 of the Nunavut Act, S.C. 1993, c. 28.

For NWT Statutes that were specifically enacted for Nunavut by the NWT prior to April 1, 1999, that were to apply only in Nunavut after March 31, 1999:

Nunavut Judicial System Implementation Act, S.N.W.T. 1998, c.34, as enacted for Nunavut, pursuant to the Nunavut Act, S.C. 1993, c. 28.

For Nunavut Statutes enacted by Nunavut after April 1, 1999:
